We're being ICED in!!

South Texas is being covered with ice! This is a rare and unwanted winter storm around here. The last time a major winter storm of any kind was 20 years ago. I've been here 9 years and have never seen it like this. I live in a small town and we're just not set up for this type of thing. They're projecting up to 5 inches of snow on top of this ice which will certainly make things worse. Initially this would all be over by mid day tomorrow but now they're saying it may even be mid day Thursday.

Shannon,
Welcome home! Since you're iced in, you have plenty of time for a game of tag. You're it.

That definitely must be causing havoc. My wife and I lived in South carolina for three years and I'll never forget how a winter storm which would have been a normal occurence in Canada virtually shut the city down. The thing is that we expect this type of weather in Canada and have all the attendant equipment to deal with it (Snow plows, sanding trucks, winter studded tires, snow chains etc.). Just don't send us any of your tropical storms.

I wonder how your children feel about this weather?

Jamie,

Indeed I do have time :) Thanks for the tag :)

Colin,

How do my children feel about this weather? Well, I've had to restrain them with rope and such to keep them from going outside :) Kidding, but they love it. They're fascinated with the icicles that are hanging from the roof of our home. The sleet and freezing rain should turn to snow before long and we'll go outside and play :)
